the decision
a few days ago, i finally decided. i'm pretty sure it was amanda's choice from the start, although she assures under different conditions we would be heading to UNC. i have thought about this a lot and it was far more stressful than anticipated. Pitt completely surprised me by accepting me and then they just kept coming, UNC, VCU, and finally Shenandoah. we had reasons to go to each of these schools and it was really hard to decide on just one. even after i would count a school out, it would sneak back in and i would suddenly want to go there. amanda absolutely hated that. i went for my interview and to be honest, i was the most nervous and unsure of whether i would get into shenandoah. they had over 400 applicants, did 90 interviews, and accept around 35. i got in. then there were 2, UNC and Shenandoah. it came down to making the decision that was best for my family. i had a hard time turning down unc, but my reasons for wanting to be there were prideful and selfish. i visited shenandoah, i really like their program, facilities, faculty, curriculum, etc. i had no reason to say no and the benefits of going there outweighed whatever the other schools had to offer (sports, prestige, etc.). so, from living thousands of miles away from home for the past 5 years, now i will be home. amanda will post later with pictures, she promised.
