i got this genius idea to crush up our little sidewalk chalk pieces and mix them in a muffin tin with a little water to make sidewalk paint. i think i saw something like this on pinterest, but they made some homemade sidewalk paint recipe with cornstarch and food coloring, and that sounded messier. i KNOW chalk washes off pretty good. and i know food coloring does NOT wash off so quickly. plus i don't think we even had enough cornstarch...anyway, this activity was a TOTAL HIT! piper lovvvved painting outside. unfortunately, it's been 95-100 degrees every day, so we haven't been doing this very often. it's a really good way to use up all the little pieces that end up at the bottom of the chalk box and if you crush them up really good (in a baggie, with a hammer) and don't add TOO much water, they make a really vibrant paint.
