memorial day

Memorial Day in Buck Valley is one of our most treasured traditions! every year we go up for the memorial day service on sunday where we go around to a few churches and cemeteries in the valley. The kids put flowers on the graves with American flags, they play Taps, and some veterans shoot off some guns (this is my least favorite part, as it is extremely loud for a wittle baby's poor wittle ears...also mine). i love this tradition because it's a great way to remember what memorial day is about, and it's also a great time catching up with friends and family we don't see too often!
After the morning festivities, we relax, do buck valley stuff, and have a picnic with family. this year we kept it small with just brett's parents, and it was one of the best yet!
Here are some of the pictures in no particular order...

Justin and Colt came over to visit while we were at Grammy and Pappy's house.  piper especially loved it because she's pretty obsessed with both Colt AND Justin!

one of these days we'll get a family pic where our kids are looking...and maybe even smiling. whatever.

probably showing Pappy something really important

these guys are so handsome and stylish!

i wish this picture wasn't sideways! we got to look through some family history stuff while we were up there and it was so cool! i even got to type up a personal history brett's grandmother had hand-written!

this picture pretty much sums up Buck Valley to me. silos, farm stuff, 4-wheelers, and lots of green.  what you don't get from this picture is the cow smell, but that's probably for the best ;)
