long post about this pregnancy (because i don't think i've blogged about it at all)

this pregnancy has been really similar and yet NOT similar at all to when i was pregnant with piper. i feel like i should start at the beginning because i haven't blogged about this pregnancy at all, and i might, someday, want to remember at least something about it!

I didn't have much morning sickness. i had some nausea, but only threw up once (and i'm pretty sure it was more related to the terrible migraine i had than to pregnancy). there were a couple weeks in there between like 7 and 11 weeks somewhere where i basically just laid on the couch a lot feeling crummy. but that all subsided and i have been feeling GREAT since. i am inclined to put a lot of credit on my running, which i've been keeping up with the whole time (even during the crummiest weeks at the beginning, i ran some). and now i'm running about 20 miles a week (give or take, depending mostly on the weather and whether i can force myself to run on a treadmill at the gym when it's crappy or cold outside). i'm definitely running much slower (like kind of embarrassingly slow). but i still feel good enough to put in about 3-6 miles at a time  4 or 5 days per week.

thanks to the running, and the fact that my main cravings have been for fruit (we shall not talk about the amount of cadbury mini-eggs i also craved/consumed), weight gain has been more manageable and less scary than last time. and also thanks to the fact that i don't have a jerk doctor this time who tells me i'm going to gain 90 pounds, i've been feeling relatively good about my body. i'm really grateful to have a body that can do all this stuff (grow a baby, go running, etc).

i'm still wearing mostly non-maternity clothes. i have a couple pairs of pants that i can still button, which is pretty nice. i like being able to wear my regular pants, and the fact that i can still button them means i still have a few weeks left once i move on to the rubber band trick too! but i DID get a good pair of maternity skinny jeans this time, which i think would have made a huge difference in my self esteem last pregnancy, but there just weren't as many options (also maybe it's bad that my self image hangs on a pair of skinny jeans, but whatever) i wear the maternity pants when i know i'm going to be sitting for a long time, but other than that i mostly stick to my regular pants still. my shirts are all still non-maternity, but i expect that will change soon as some of them are already getting a little short. i'm trying to build most of my small maternity wardrobe around summer clothes because i don't want to be any more uncomfortable than necessary come july/august. most of my maternity stuff from piper is winter stuff, so it has been basically useless, except for a couple dresses that might come in handy later. but thanks to online tutorials for making a too-big-shirt into a maternity shirt with elastic, and some target maternity clothing coupons/clearance, i feel like i'm pretty set now. except i could probably stand to find a pair of shorts.

Piper is becoming more and more aware of the baby and she'll talk about him sometimes. i think someone needs to break the news that i'm NOT naming him "Ferb" though. i don't know what we WILL name him, but i know it won't be Ferb. sorry piper. piper likes to help pick out baby stuff (especially shoes) and she likes the matching ties/hairbows i've been making for them.

i'm still sleeping fine, which i'm really glad about. i have only minor aches and pains, mostly after a long run or lots of walking. To be fair, i might have some of them even if i WASN'T pregnant. i finally got a hilarious maternity support belt to wear while i run, mainly to stop the constant need for pee breaks and it seems to be working pretty good. i imagine it will make a bigger difference as my belly gets bigger.

i feel the baby move more and more frequently but brett hasn't felt it yet. i'd guess this week he'll be able to feel it.

brett has been wanting to take pregnancy pics for a few weeks now but i always got out of it somehow. but yesterday he won. so here is a pic of me at 21.5 weeks.
